• it is more feasible to make a floor plan larger than to make it smaller
• i.e. finding a plan with all the rooms and layout you want, but wanting it 200 square feet smaller. Things begin to get unreasonably tight. However, finding a smaller plan with the rooms and layout you want, is more feasible to enlarge resulting in a better design.
